My subjective criteria was satisfied

I happened to catch that quote from U.S. skier Bode Miller in the caption to a picture in this morning's Tribune. Miller took fifth and had been asked if he were disappointed in his performance.

I fear that there are many who hope to make some such answer to our Lord when the time comes to give an account of our lives here. I can't imagine many saints saying that about their own performances.

No, saint or otherwise we would not make such a comment because we know that God also knows all our imperfections and the lack of the perfect discipline that would enable us to always follow the loving example he set for us.

If I, who seem to be your right hand and am called Presbyter and seem to
preach the Word of God, If I do something against the discipline of the Church
and the Rule of the Gospel so that I become a scandal to you, The Church, then
may the whole Church, in unanimous resolve, cut me, its right hand, off, and
throw me away.
