"The vitality of monastic spirituality...is not a narrowly sectarian or esoteric preoccupation, but a legitimate concern of the Church as a whole, just as is the apostolate, the formation of the clergy, the promotion of the liturgy, the missionary effort, and so forth. 'The eye cannot say to the hand, "I do not need thy help"; nor again the head to the feet, "I have no need of you"' (I Cor 12, 21). It is important that every Christian perceive not only his own role in the Church, but also that of the other organs of the Body. Monastic spirituality cannot achieve its purpose fully unless its nature and function are understood, not only by monks themselves, but also by other religious, by the laity and by the clergy."

In this spirit of this perceptive quote, and given the increase in visitors to this site, I ask the readers, "How can I better explain or present the monastic life to others in the Church?" Please feel free to make any suggestions or ask any questions you might have.

You might consider vocation and calling. For those of us who have considered where or not we have a vocation as a monk, perhaps a little of your own journey or how you discovered that monastic life was for you would be helpful...
